A special dedication for Flush (alias Sankerib)
This is one CD I listen to incessantly. An old friend of mine, Yu-Mei who is Sino-Japanese, had introduced me to Chinese and Japanese music. I fell in love, first and foremost, with the diversity of these cultures. Moreover, I admire this type of music with those grand arpeggios that move out into space, those beautiful wooden and stringed instruments, the masterly combination of eastern traditional instruments fused into spatial music and definitely influenced by the world of western classical music.
There is no simplicity in the compositions on this album. Shi Fu creates something really extraordinary here. Take, for example, the vocals or the counter composition in a harmonious way of some tracks, particularly that of Track 04 [The Day Falls To Pieces]. If you heard and loved Chinese Music before, you are in for a special treat with this particular album.
The titles originally came out in Chinese and with the help of Yu-Mei, once more she came to save me on this occasion, we came up wth a translation of the titles. Enjoy this beautiful album. If you liked the previous post Spring In The Tibetan Grassland, you will surely love this one as well.
