UWFO of Vietnam Supports The Land Protesting

On behalf of The United Workers-Farmers Organization of Vietnam
(UWFOV), we support the on-going farmers' protests currently taking
place in Saigon and Hanoi since June 22, 2006. We call on the Hanoi
authorities to engage in dialogue in order to appropriately address
government corruption and landing issues quickly and avoid any
unexpected accidents which are likely to occur in situations of crowd
control.

The United Workers-Farmers Organization of Vietnam asks the Vietnamese
government to stop preventing protestors from receiving water, food
and first aid supplies from supporters. To continue such outrageous
inhuman activities, only prove to the Vietnamese people that the Ha-
noi government engages in tyrannical practice against its own people.

We call on all Farmers to continue to join the land protests in Saigon
and Hanoi. We call on all working classes to continue to join with our
farmer's brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers to form a united front
in solidarity fighting for our common goal: justice and fairness for
all.

Members of UWFOV have been jailed, placed on warrant lists and
suffered extreme intimidation including: Tran Quoc Hien, Nguyen Tan
Hoanh, Tran Thi Le Hang, Doan Van Dien and Doan Huy Chuong. However,
the UWFOV will not give up - we will continue to struggle for the
right of forming independent labor unions and work for justice for
farmers who suffer government corruption.

We  call on the Vietnamese living inside and abroad, human rights
organizations, worker unions and the free world to support us so that
The United Workers-Farmers Organization of Vietnam can continue to
fight for workers and farmers' rights in Vietnam .

Background:

The UWFOV was founded on October, 2006 to fight for Workers and
Farmers' Rights. After publicly releasing its statement, UWFOV's
founders and leading members were arrested. Mr. Nguyen Tan Hoanh, Mrs.
Tran Thi Le Hang, Mr. Doan Van Dien and Mr. Doan Huy Chuong are all
currently incarcerated at B5 Dong Nai prison, Vietnam . On Dec, 2006
UWFOV' spokesperson, Mr. Tran Quoc Hien was arrested and sentenced 5
years imprisonment.
