Trong hai nghìn năm qua, có rất nhiều tài liệu về lịch sử Trung Đông, rất đa dạng về nội dung cũng như về chất lượng. Rất may là có nhiều công trình để tham khảo và có các thư mục có lời bình cho gần hết vùng Trung Đông và gần hết các giai đoạn, mặc dù chưa phải là toàn diện. Danh sách sau không phải là một thư mục đầy đủ mà chỉ là một chọn lọc khiêm tốn của những tài liệu tham khảo hữu ích trên những vấn đề có đề cập đến trong sách này.
